The picturesque winding stretch of water that connects the Tasman Sea to St George’s Basin, known as Sussex Inlet, was originally home to the the Dhurga Aboriginal people before the first European settler Jacob Ellmoos arrived in 1878.

Did you know?

In 1890 the first European settlers at Sussex Inlet, the Ellmoos family, opened a guesthouse (believed to be the first commercial accommodation on the south coast) named Christian's Minde in memory of Christian Ellmoos who had died in 1888.
