Bega NSW NSW Country

Bega is most famous for its rich dairy country, rolling pastures and beautiful coastline to the towns east. The cheese making, for which the area is now noted, started in the 1850’s and grew rapidly.

The nearby beautiful Mimosa Rocks National Park includes one of the most interesting Aboriginal sites on the Australian coast. A series of boardwalks take the visitor past a huge and ancient midden, beside a freshwater creek and to a point where there are excellent views across a rocky beach to Mimosa Rocks.

Location and Nearby Townships

A part of the Sapphire Coast, Bega is situated on the Princes Highway between Cobargo and Pambula, and is west of Tathra.
