Griffith ACT

Griffith is named after Sir Samuel Griffith, who was chosen in 1903 as the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia. One of Canberra’s earliest suburbs, it was designed by Walter Burley Griffin.

Incorporating cosmopolitan Manuka, Canberra’s earliest shopping centre, Griffith is one of the more diverse suburban centres in Canberra. It is where ‘Old Canberra’ meets the needs of a modern, health conscious and vibrant community - appropriate really that street names in Griffith follow a theme of explorers.
